Following their policy of giving concerts in aid of charities, the Bewick Orchestra is giving another in their home town of Morpeth, this time in aid of Parkinson's UK which works directly with the NHS to improve services for everyone with Parkinson’s across the UK.  They offer practical and emotional support for those living with or caring for someone with Parkinson's. The concert programme includes four well known works which are rarely heard live in the region and this event provides an opportunity to hear them all. Robin Forbes conducts and the soloist will be Nick Byrne, a cellist with an impressive pedigree. Born in Liverpool to a musical family, he studied at the Royal Academy of Music and continued in Canada, making numerous recordings of World premieres for CBC National Radio with the contemporary music group Groundswell New Music. He is now sub-principal Cello in the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and also finds time to be cellist with the Liverpool String Quartet. Nick will be playing the very popular Cello Concerto by Elgar and the concert opens with Schubert's Overture to Rosamunde. Also included in the programme is another work by Schubert, his Unfinished Symphony, and Rossini's Overture to the Barber of Seville. The concert will be on Saturday 16th May in the Church of St James, Copper Chare, Morpeth at 7.30 p.m. Tickets (£10, children and students free) are available from Morpeth Chantry (tel. 01670 623455) and at the door.
